Recollections,
Ltd. is owned and operated by Jay and Kathy Kiran, who spent their
first date at an estate sale. Recognizing the wealth of vintage
items stored in the homes, garages, attics, and basements of Chicagoland
neighborhoods, we turned our hobby into our business in 1998.
We
make it our goal to provide the absolute best in creative estate
liquidation services throughout Chicagoland:
Conducted House or Estate Sales are hugely
popular in this area. We will organize and price all household
items, place the advertising, and run a professional sale for
you. Estate sales are conducted in unoccupied homes (we would
strongly discourage you from attempting to let someone set up
and run an estate sale while someone is still living in the
home, particularly an elderly resident). Some people have the
estate sale done after the resident has moved out but before
the house is listed for sale (resulting in an empty home to
sell). Some have us conduct them between contract and closing
(resulting in an empty house that is broom swept and vacuumed
and ready for walk-through).
Rule
of thumb: we need two weeks of unlimited access to set up the
sale, and sales are usually run for two days -- a Friday and
Saturday. Houses with excessive content or in need of a "pre-clean"
to eliminate exceesive debris and junk before setting up may
require additional time. We'll know best once we've visited
the home.
eBay consignment is an option when an estate
sale isn't practical or possible. We select your higher value
items that have a satisfactory on-line sales history, and handle
the photography, listing, customer communications, and shipping.
We will also consider taking on consignment of hot selling items
from other private collections, not just from estates.
Household
Clean-Outs can be scheduled when the contents in the
house are not suitable for resale, but still need to be removed
and disposed of. This service is contracted through Haul Gone®,
our junk removal subsidiary, and when the job is done, the house
is broom swept and vacuumed.
